Launched in April of 2017 by Sydney Urbanek, Reel Honey® is an online film and pop culture magazine that aims to move the needle for young women and non-binary folks in professional culture writing. We aim to provide a space for aspiring and emerging writers to find their written voices and strengthen their capacity for cultural criticism.
Since launching last year, we’ve published the work of more than 70 writers and illustrators. Our contributors are diverse with respect to age, occupation, gender identity, sexuality, racial and ethnic identity, ability, religion, and geographical location. (If there’s a way you believe we can do better with respect to any of the above, please let us know.)
We publish written pieces weekly throughout the year, along with a quarterly themed issue. If you’re interested in contributing your writing or visual art to our magazine, or if you’re looking to submit your film or series for review, please be sure to check out our Submit page.
